NOTICE OF RACE
1 ORGANISING AUTHORITY
Royal Danish Yacht Club (RDYC) in conjunction with the Farr40 European Fleet Association.
2. HEADQUARTERS
The Official Regatta Headquarters will be at the Royal Danish Yacht Club House, Tuborg Havnepark 15, DK-2900 Hellerup, Denmark.

3. RULES
3.1 The regatta will be governed by the following rules:
- Racing Rules of Sailing 2005 – 2008 (RRS)
- Farr40 One Design Class Rules
- This Notice of Race and the Notice of race of the European Circuit
- The Sailing Instructions and any amendments thereto.
3.2 Safety Equipment as per Class Rule Appendix 3 and ISAF Cat. IV Special Safety Regulation Equipment shall apply. Designers and manufacturers original standards shall prevail in the event of a conflict.
3.3 In the event of conflict between any of the above Rules and/or Regulations and the Sailing
Instructions (S.I), the S.I. shall prevail except that no change can be made to the Farr 40 Class Rules through the Notice of Race or Sailing Instructions.
3.4 English shall be the official language used at the Event.
4. ALTERATIONS OF RACING RULES OF SAILING
4.1 Competitors shall not introduce video and/or photographs as evidence at protest hearings. This amends RRS 63.6.
4.2 RRS 51 is amended by addition of the following sentence: The maximum amount of drinkable liquid aboard each yacht shall not exceed 6 litres per person, per day.
4.3 RRS 44.2 is amended so that, except for infringements of Part 2 that occur within 2 boat lengths of a rounding mark or finishing mark, only 1 turn is required.
5. ELIGIBILITY
5.1 The regatta is open to all Farr 40 One Design Class yachts as defined by the Farr 40 Class Rules. Farr 40 One Design Class rules can be found at www.farr40.org.
5.2 Owners, charterers and substitute helmsmen shall be current members of the Farr 40 Class Association and Members of the European Fleet Association and shall be approved by the Farr 40 Class Eligibility Review Committee.
Overseas owners are kindly requested to ask for a guest membership of the Farr 40 European Fleet (pirina@farr40.net ).
5.3 All competitors shall be in compliance with the ISAF Eligibility Rules.
5.4 All competitors shall be in compliance with their respective National Rules.
5.5 The event is an official leg of the Farr 40 European Circuit Med 2008 as 3rd series.
6. ENTRY AND REGISTRATION
6.1 An eligible yacht may enter by lodging a completed Entry Form and paying the entry fee not later than the 1st July 2008.
6.2 Entries shall be made on the Official Entry Form on the Event website: http://kapsejlads.kdy.dk/regattaMain.php4?id=54
6.3 By July 1st, a yacht shall have lodged with Farr International crew lists and ISA classification rulings for all Group 1 sailors, along with designation of Class approved relief, substitute or chartering helmsmen. Late lodgements may be accepted at the discretion of the Farr 40 Management Group.
6.4 To qualify as an official competitor the following shall be lodged with the Race Office prior to the close of registration on 24th July 2008:
a) Complete Registration with Organizing Authority including Entry Form and Disclaimer duly completed, and Media rights, as supplied by the Organising Authority, signed by all of the crew and Entry Fee paid;
b) Current 2008 One Design Certificate;
c) Class Rule Appendix 5 - Sail and Crew Declaration;
d) Class Rule Appendix 10 - Declarations by Owners, Boat Captains and Tacticians;
e) Owner’s, Charterer’s, and Alternate helmsman’s Class Membership dues paid for 2008;
f) European Fleet Membership dues for 2008, paid and on file with European Fleet Secretariat;
g) Crew classification and alternate helmsman declared and verified on the Sail/Crew Declaration form;
h) Owner’s, Charterer’s and Alternate helmsman’s Class Membership Dues for 2008 paid and on file with Stagg Yachts;
i) Owner/Skipper must be a member of their Member National Authority or affiliated Yacht Club, and provide a copy of their membership card (USS, FFV, FIV, RYA, etc…);
j) Valid insurance certificate for Third Party Indemnity with a sum insured of not less than 2,5 million Euros (or its equivalent in another currency);
k) Display class sponsors flags, stickers, and any other items as stated by the Sailing Instructions;
l) All owners, tacticians and boat captains shall be required to sign a Yacht Owner Compliance Declaration, per Appendix 6 of the class rules, that their boat fully complies with class rules and that they will abide by said class rules while racing, except for crew eligibility and advertising at the close of the registration.
6.5 Any boat intending to display advertising during the regatta shall state in the entry form the nature of such advertising. If a boat that has already entered acquires advertising or changes her advertising, she shall inform the Organizing Authority that may refuse the entry. The Organizing Authority reserves the right to accept entries from more than one boat advertising the same brand.
Boats are responsible to inform advertisers and sponsors that no activities advertising any brand advertised on competing boats will be permitted ashore within the Porto Cervo Marina Area without the consent in writing of the Organizing Authority obtained before the start of the Regatta.
7. MEASUREMENT AND INSPECTION
7.1 Measurement may take place on 24th July 2008. A yacht shall provide a minimum of 2 people to facilitate measurement.
7.2 Random boat and equipment inspections may be conducted after daily races to check for compliance with Class Rules, including Category 4 safety requirements .
7.3 Sail Measurement
Each yacht may measure and declare maximum of 10 sails (Class Rule 25.0). Sail buttons must be sewn on prior to measurement. Sails that do not meet initial measurement criteria may be re-measured once only.
7.4 Crew Weight: Crew will be weighed as per Class Rules prior to the start of the regatta.
8. SCHEDULE
- Thursday, 24th July Registrations, Measurement and Inspections; Skippers Briefing at the RDYC Club House
- Friday, 25th July Race (s)
- Saturday, 26th July Race (s)
- Sunday, 27th July Race (s) followed by Awards
A maximum of 8 races shall be sailed. The O.A. and/or the R.C. reserve the right to modify the programme due to weather conditions or other causes.
9. EVENT ADVERTISING DURING REGATTA
The Organising Authority may request all boats to apply bow numbers to both sides of the bow for the duration of the Regatta commencing immediately following registration until one hour after the finish of the last race The bow numbers will be provided by the Organising Authority. The Organising Authority may also require the installation, at no cost to competitors, of on board video cameras for the official television production and/or electronic tracking.
10. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available from the Regatta Office on 24th July.
11. RACING AREA AND COURSES
The racing area will be the waters NE of Tuborg Harbour. Courses will be windward/leeward as diagrammed in the Sailing Instructions, and leeward gates will be used.
12. SCORING
12.1 The Low Point Scoring System as described in RRS Appendix A shall apply, except that each yacht’s series score will be the sum of all her race scores.
12.2 8 races are scheduled of which 4 races will constitute a series.
13. JURY
The Jury will not be an international Jury.
14. MOORINGS
The entry fee includes mooring fees from one week before the event to one week after the event I Tuborg Harbour.
15. HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS
After measurement of a yacht until after the finish of the final race, that yacht shall only haul out with prior written permission of the Organising Authority. Cleaning in the water is permitted.
16. RADIO COMMUNICATION
A yacht shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all yachts. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

Media representatives wishing to cover the event are requested to contact the Race Office. Prior to the race please contact Royal Danish Yacht Club.
19. DISCLAIMER
Competitors agree to be bound by the International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2005/2008, by the Sailing Instructions and the Notice of Race. Competitors agree to take any and all responsibility for the nautical qualities of their boat, the rigging, the crew's ability and the safety equipment. Competitors also agree to take any and all responsibility for damages caused to third persons or their belongings, to themselves or to their belongings, ashore and at sea as a consequence of their participation in the regatta, relieving of any responsibility the Royal Danish Yacht Club, the Farr 40 Class Management Group, Stagg yachts, the Farr 40 Class Executive Committee, the Farr 40 European Fleet Management Group and all persons involved in the organization under whatever qualification and to accept full responsibility for the behaviour and dress of the boat's crew, representatives and guests.
Competitors are to be acquainted with ISAF RRS Part 1 Fundamental Rule 4: "The responsibility for a boat's decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone".
In any case, competitors agree that the Royal Danish Yacht Club, the Farr 40 Class Management Group, Stagg yachts, the Farr 40 Class Executive Committee, the Farr 40 European Fleet Management group, the sponsors and their agents, have no responsibility for loss of life or injury to members or others, or for the loss or damage to any vessel or property. As part of the registration process, each individual participating crewmember will be required to sign a declaration accepting this disclaimer of liability.
20. MEDIA RIGHTS
Competitors grant the Organizing Authority, the unrestricted right and permission to use the name and the image for any text, photograph or video footage of either themselves or the boat they are sailing during the event to be published or broadcast in any media whatsoever (including but not limited to Press and TV advertisements or Internet), for either editorial or advertising purposes or to be used in press information; in this respect, competitors' names and any biographical material of themselves may also be used or reproduced in any way known. As part of the registration process, each individual participating crewmember will be required to sign a declaration accepting this waiver of rights.
